STOP the ESA Loophole – ACT NOW!

A yellow lab was killed 300 yards from a family’s back door. The wolf population hit 1,162 – more than 3x the state’s own recovery goal. Add your name and tell Washington, D.C. the Endangered Species Act needs real reform.

In 1999, Wisconsin’s own Department of Natural Resources set 350 wolves as the number that meant the species was recovered. Today the count is 1,162 – over triple that goal, sitting at what DNR’s own scientists call the state’s biological carrying capacity.

A number that size isn’t good news for the wolves, either – overcrowded packs get sicker, hungrier, and more likely to end up as roadkill or a nuisance-control call. But the wolf is still federally “endangered.” 

That means Wisconsin can’t manage its own recovered, over-capacity population – no matter what the science says. Families are losing pets. Hunters are losing dogs.

Ranchers are losing cattle. And the law won’t let the state do a thing about it.
